In Vestmanna, You Can Visit a Traditional Handicraft Workshop
In the old general store, the saying still holds true: wool is the gold of the Faroe Islands. This gold does not glitter, but as soon as you grasp the door handle, you are greeted by the warmth of handcrafted wool garments—true national treasures.
No two pieces are alike. Every single item is handmade with knitting needles, thread, and care. A skill passed down through generations—often undervalued—but within these walls, the handicraft tradition of Vestmanna lives on.
The general store is run by the Vestmanna Handicraft Association, and in addition to handmade goods, visitors can also enjoy coffee and homemade cakes.
You will find the store at Bakkavegur 23, open Monday to Saturday from 14:00 to 17:00.
